LIBYAN T72 M1 - LIBYAN UPRISING AGAINST GADDAFI -DIEGO VICARIO

The pictures of the recent conflict in Libya have inspired my work, i reproduce a tank of Gaddafi troops.
The starter kit and the old Zvedza dedicated to the T 72 A wrong in many of his pieces that I had to upgrade to get to version M1

The turret and is almost completely rebuilt, following the action taken:
Moving further down the episcopate of the cannon, texturing in order to simulate the effect of casting in sand mold, repositioning of the crates and their supports, the cupola approach to anti-aircraft machine gun using plasticard, smoke and repositioning its wires trigger, adding lifting hooks taken from a kit trumpeter, reconstruction of the towel of the cannon, welding remade in the upper part of the turret

I rebuilt with the plasticar the additional armor on the front scheduled for the M 1 version .

I did several tests before being able to obtain a satisfactory result.

The wrong inclination of the plate below the front was corrected with the' removal of the entire area, and changing inclination and adds a new plate (made with plasticard) to which I added the typical hydraulic system in that area.

The tracks friul with its metal drive sprockets give more realism to the model.
It is the old ATL 11 at interlocking tracks.
I found them very good and in some ways more practical than those with metal wire.

Replacing the kit barrel with  the RB model nothing short of magnificent

Cingoli : Per la colorazione base ho effettuato i seguenti passaggi Fondo xf 1 nero opaco, Base flat earth xf 52 dato in diverse mani leggere.

PAINTING
I mostly use Tamiya colors; as a primer usually use the black XF1, covers well and renders uniform the different materials used.
Base color: Yellow XF 59 desert yellow sand mixed in equal parts with XF 57 Buff.
I worked on this basis adding in 4 steps White XF 2 so as to bring out the shapes and volumes, working for small areas from the center of the panel.
The green camouflage I obtained starting from the color Gunze RLM 70 to which I added a bit of XF 1 to make it darker. This, too, was taken lighten I used the RLM 70 pure.
After a coat of transparent and waiting for the complete drying of the latter, I started theweathering  with oil colors, the first thing a general wash of yellow ocher to homogenize everything. After drying (48 hours) I made selective washes on each plate using a series of dots of the following colors: white (little) gray, pink, sienna natural.
drying took place I made a wash selective of all the rivets and details with a black with a bit of burnt sienna so as to give depth to the model giving it a nice warm tone.

Tracks: For the base color I performed the following steps Fund xf 1 matte black, flat earth Base xf 52 given in several light coats.

The first stage of aging was performed using acrylics dunkegelbe xf 60 diluted in water.

It works as if you were coloring brush the track but the 'water makes the color more fluid going to end up in the interstices of each mesh; once dry will give the 'right dusty effect for subsequent aging.

For the second phase I used oil paints van Dyck brown, black,  to donate depth to the tracks links, and then with the burnt sienna it goes over only the less contact with the ground to give that 'rust effect typical of the tracks that move on desert terrain.

The last step was performed with a dry brush of aluminum Humbrol and  with a soft pencil graphite.

A final passage of dust Mig and you're done.

Once assembled tracks I did a drybrush with the base color lightened and I made some paint chips. Usually to follow these 3 steps: Light color in black spots a light gray in the sand, the white base color with the addition of these are only superficial scrapings.
All 'inside of some of them I add a rusty color to represent those in which the paint and skipped away.
In the desert, the metal will rust quickly due to the weather (always remember not to overdo it and always look photographs of the real armour)
L'AMBIENTAZIONE
BASE AND GROUND
The road is made with plasticard roughened with sandpaper of.
To the ground floor of my garden is sifted and colored with acrylic colors airbrush.
Before its drying I pressed the chariot to leave the signs of the tracks.
I effetuato a general wash of brown van dyck and once dry I made several passes of dry brush to emphasize the shape of the terrain.
The grass is the synthetic model railroad.
. The road was dusty with the mig Beach Sand production.
FIGURINO
FIGURE
The body is from a Trumpeter kit meter head and a kit zvezda I realized the light green scarf used by tank crewmen who fought for Gaddafi. I painted with acrylic colors Panzer aces while for the details I used oil colors.
